Lower Level Living Room | Home DIY Project #1

Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty… I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well.
— Theodore Roosevelt

The first project we decided to tackle was the lower level living room one primary reason: it needed the most TLC and work. Welcome to exhibit A:

When I walked into this room for the first time, my wheels started turning and I was making a mental list:

  • Popcorn WALLS and ceiling need to be SMOOTH

  • New floors

  • Fireplace facelift

  • Exterior door facelift

  • Interior doors facelift or replace

  • Window and ledge facelift

  • New trim

  • Built in??

It’s a long list, but that didn’t stop us from diving in. First up: operation smooth criminal, de-popping the popcorn walls and ceiling.
